Camp Hell movie review (2010)

Camp Hell (2010)

Short review: At the end of every summer, the children of a Christian community from a suburb of New Jersey attend Camp Hope. But what was supposed to be a safe place and a spiritual retreat, has now turned into a nightmare that not even faith can end. Despite its promising premise, "Camp Hell" is a dull, utterly boring and poorly-crafted horror flick, made with no imagination whatsoever. The story is stretched like a bubblegum and goes absolutely nowhere. The only interesting moment in this film is when the creepy demon appears, but that's for about 10 seconds. Yes, "Camp Hell" is truly disturbing, not because of its nightmarish premise, but because it's full of overly-religious crazy people and even crazier religious messages. And overly-religious people have always freaked me out! Technically, "Camp Hell" is also pretty bad - the direction is very amateurish and completely uninspired, the setting is cheap, and the music score is awfully annoying, as are the sound effects. Acting-wise, the movie isn't as bad. The performances range from average to mediocre, without a real standout. All in all, "Camp Hell" is 99 minutes of vapid nothingness.
